Choir
Elementary Choir
The SFCA elementary music program introduces students to the fundamentals of music. Using Quaver interactive curriculum, students cover musical periods, music theory, singing, rhythm, and a lot more! Students are introduced to the recorder, keyboard, and the ukulele, and grow in knowledge of music and in Jesus Christ. Elementary students perform twice a year – at Christmas and in the spring.
Beginning Choir
SFCA’s choral music program begins in the 5th grade, with Beginning Choir Class that meets during the school day. Students learn the basics of vocal production, how to read music, complete a course on basic music theory concepts, and perform as a group. The Beginning Choir performs at Christmas and Spring Concerts, and attends ACSI choir festival in the spring usually held off campus in Tampa.
Middle School Choir
The focus of this group is developing technique on the vocal instrument as well as overall musicianship. This choir performs at Christmas and Spring “Sing –n-Swing” Concert. They also sing at either the ACSI choir festival for a rating from three judges. The 7th -8th grade students are also eligible to audition for the All-State Choir which performs in Tampa at the annual Music convention. The middle school choir has also performed the National Anthem for the Harlem Globetrotters Basketball Game, performed at McGregor’s Christmas Family Night, and helped serve our community by performing at the Nation’s Association Christmas party. As opportunities arise, SFCA will have our choirs participate.
High School Choir
High School Choir focuses on Music Theory, History and challenging repertoire are learned with this group. This choir performs at the Christmas Concert, Spring Concert otherwise known as “Sing-n-Swing”, and the ACSI Choir Festival each year. They also audition for Epcot’s Candlelight Processional each year and usually have opportunity to be part of that amazing event. The high school choirs have performed for McGregor’s Family Christmas event, as well as other community opportunities as they arise. Students also have the opportunity to attend the Stetson Choir Festival in the fall and audition for an All State Choir should they choose to extend their musical studies.
High School Honors
SFCA high school choir offers an honors track for motivated High School students, during which student musicians meet specific requirements in these categories: Individual Instruction, Solo Performances, Ensemble Participation, Leadership and Service, and Written projects. Some of those include the opportunity to attend Stetson Choir Festival in the fall and auditioning for an All State Choir.
