Please tell us about yourself and your family. My name is Kelly Coser. I grew up in Central Florida and moved to Fort Myers in 2011 to attend Florida Gulf Coast University. While in college, I met my husband and were married in 2016. We now call Fort Myers home with our two children, Brayden and Brynlee, who are also students at SFCA.

Tell us something that we would be surprised to know about you. While in school, I was very involved as a teenager. I danced for 14 years, played golf for my middle and high school teams, and was the drum major for my high school marching band my sophomore and junior year of high school.

Describe how you feel God has called you to your particular career path. While in college for my bachelors degree, Biology with a concentration in Microbiology, I wasn’t constantly searching for where I wanted to go after. Education was definitely something I had thought about but had not pursued the idea further. My senior year, God pressed it on my heart to look into what it would take to teach after graduation. After taking the necessary steps to teach in Florida, I was able to start working in high school education here in Lee County. After spending 6 years in public education, I knew God was calling my family and myself into Christian education. God led us to SFCA and we are so blessed to be a part of the SFCA family.

In what particular ways do you hope to shape the learning or spiritual experience of our students here at SFCA? My ultimate goal is to cultivate graduates who think Biblically and live Christ-centered lives. I hope that through my teaching and mentorship, I can help equip our students to be salt and light in the world, applying their knowledge, skills, and faith to bring redemption and restoration in all areas of life.

The SFCA mission statement: Southwest Florida Christian Academy, a ministry of McGregor Baptist Church, will partner with Christian parents to provide their children with a distinctively Biblical and academically excellent education that will equip students to be Godly leaders and to successfully engage the culture for Christ. How do you hope to accomplish this as a faculty/staff member? As a high school teacher, we have the unique ability to partner with parents and integrating spiritual growth with rigorous academics. My hope is that my students not only learn the curriculum of their respective class but that they also are able to learn critical thinking skills, enabling them to evaluate ideas and philosophies through a Biblical lens.
