Kindergarten
Nurturing a love for learning and a love for God.
In kindergarten, parents have just as many questions as their children. Is my child ready? Will they be able to focus? Will they make friends easily?
We’re glad you’re asking these questions. Our private Christian kindergarten classrooms offer a well-thought-out learning program that adjusts to fit your child’s needs and interests and incorporates a mix of traditional written work and interactive lessons. Our program is also designed to partner with parents and reinforce the Christian values you are teaching at home.
Below, you’ll find a brief overview of what we offer, including:

Kindergarten Program
Our full-day kindergarten program runs five days a week, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children enjoy learning core subjects, lunch with friends, opportunities for enrichment classes, and plenty of time for play.
Daily Schedule
Each kindergarten class starts the day with pledges and prayer before diving into subjects like reading and math. In the afternoon, classes have center instruction, which includes technology and DreamBox Learning software that uses animation, games, and challenges to reinforce lessons. Every day also includes at least one or two special classes, such as music and Spanish.
Extended Care
Our after-school program, called King’s Crew, provides children with an opportunity for extra play from 3 to 6 p.m.
A learning environment that prepares and equips.
At SFCA, we’ve built our kindergarten program to have the flexibility to support children with and without preschool experience. Students are required to be 5 years old by Sept. 1 and pass an entrance exam.
We find our kindergartners flourish through:
Care and support
Teachers are able to offer individualized attention to students because we keep our classes small with a 10:1 student-teacher ratio.
A combination of effective learning approaches
Your child will benefit from hands-on learning activities as well as written work and group learning, especially when it comes to studying their letters and Bible verses. They will also gain an age-appropriate understanding of core subjects as they explore phonics, guided reading, penmanship, math, social studies, and science.
An engaging environment
From the playground to our technology-rich learning centers, we provide the space for your child to play, interact with lessons, and explore concepts.
Modeling good character
Our teachers and staff show kindness and grace, especially when it comes to discipline. They continually talk and teach about the Fruits of the Spirit throughout the day, and they highlight students’ positive behavior.
Active, Hands-On Learning
All children enjoy an engaging approach to learning — and that’s especially important for our youngest students as they build their academic foundation. At SFCA, your child will be taught through the Abeka curriculum and Purposeful Design, which helps them master the skills they need to flourish in kindergarten and to prepare for the future.
At the kindergarten level, core subject areas include:
- Math
- Reading/Phonics
- Social Studies
- Science
- Bible
Technology In the Classroom
Your child will be introduced to technology in the classroom through Dreambox, Accelerated Reader, and interactive whiteboards that teachers use for instruction during Center Time. Our teachers and staff model how to use technology safely and in a mindful manner.
A Safe Environment
We follow all of the modern safety protocols, along with ensuring that our classes are kept small. This individualized attention means that teachers recognize when students are struggling and can step in to help. Your child will also benefit from our elementary school counselor, who teaches students about maintaining their social-emotional health.

“I absolutely love getting to teach young children how much Jesus loves them and watching their faces light up when they begin to understand His boundless love. One of the greatest joys in my role as a kindergarten teacher at Southwest Florida Christian Academy is helping these young minds discover the joys of reading. It’s incredible to see their excitement and pride as they start to piece together words and sentences.”
